Individual Health Insurance

Are you currently without work, self-employed, or working for a company not offering group health insurance? If so, individual health insurance is available to you in one of many different ways. While the process of discovering what’s available for you or family may seem daunting…there are many options with many acronyms – HSAs, MSAs, HRAs – and many considerations – low co-pay/high premium, high co-pay/low premium…don’t be discouraged! It is of vital importance that you have adequate health care coverage for yourself and your family. The mounting costs of health care without insurance can be financially overwhelming. Let AIC Insurance Services walk you step-by-step through your options to find the perfect fit for your needs.

MSAs, HSAs & HRAs

A Medical Savings Account (MSA) is an account from which you can pay for medical care or health insurance, often used in conjunction with a high-deductible health insurance plan. An MSA is the equivalent of a “flex-spending” plan that you would find in a group health insurance program. MSAs are given tax-preferred status in some states, but are not tax-free through the federal government.

A Health Savings Account (HSA) is a pre-tax savings account from which you can pay for current or future medical expenses. While there are some restrictions, you are allowed to deposit money before taxes are paid, and withdraw tax free for qualified medical expenses.

A Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) is an arrangement made with your current employer to reimburse you for medical expenses not already covered by the company’s group plan, including deductibles or co-pay amounts.

Co-Pay Plans

Individual health insurance co-pay plans are available for anyone who prefers the convenience of co-pay benefits for routine health care expenses. This type of plan may be especially attractive to anyone with a family with small children who have regularly scheduled doctor office visits, or to adults who want co-pay benefits for preventative care and prescription drugs.

High-Deductible Plans

Individual health insurance high-deductible plans are available for anyone willing to take responsibility for routine health care expenses in exchange for lower premiums. This type of plan is useful for those people seeking lower cost protection from unexpected accidents and illnesses, or early retirees needing a bridge to Medicare.

Saver Plans

A Saver Plan is an option available with any of the options shown above, and is designed to provide inpatient coverage and coverage for the more costly outpatient health care expenses, such as surgery, CAT scans, and MRIs.
